A service of tailored to adult learners and job seekers who need help with resume and interview preparation, citizenship, and GED. It includes LiveTutor, for one-to-one help with a certified tutor, and Skills Center Resource Library, which includes worksheets, tutorials, and study guides.

2-1-1 Long Island

For those looking for information on local community services, this database, also known as the Community Resource Database of Long Island, is a directory of health, human service, and education agencies and programs. It includes detailed information on nearly 12,000 community resources for children, teens, adults, families, and seniors in both Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Career Cruising

Plan your future with a career-guidance system that helps you match your skills and interests to a career. It includes:

  • “Career Matchmaker” assessment tools;
  • “Explore Careers,” with job descriptions, educational requirements and multimedia interviews;
  • “Explore Schools,” containing information on colleges and other educational institutions;
  • “Portfolio,” a free account to let you save your results, develop a plan, and create a resume; and
  • “Search Career Cruising,” to help you pinpoint the information you need right away.

Learning Express Library

The LEL platform includes skill-building tutorials, test preparation, and career-advancement resources enhanced with new educational content, career guidance, and advice from industry experts.

Prepare for success with practice tests and study materials, including the full-text of study guides and test-preparation books in PDF format. Available topics include ACT, SAT, GED, Armed Services, Citizenship, Firefighter, Police, Postal Worker, Real Estate, and more.

The Popular Software Skills Center includes instruction in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, OneDriveOutlook, Powerpoint, Project, SharePoint Designer, Visio, and Word) and Windows.


A free service of the NY State Dept. of Labor, CareerZone provides information on 900 occupations, labor-market information, job postings, and application tools, including a résumé builder and reference-list maker.

Job & Career Accelerator

CEUs are available (though their acceptability is up to the individual employer).
