Though the library building is closed, the Garden City Public Library has been working to provide the community with information, education, and entertainment through its website, its Facebook pages, and Nassau’s Overdrive collection, the Nassau Digital Doorway. The Library’s digital resources are available 24/7 with a valid library card. New copies of eBooks and digital audiobooks are being added for adults, children, and young adults to the Nassau Digital Doorway daily. Checkouts have increased during this time of social distancing, so additional copies of popular titles will continue to be added. (more…)

Although this April may not be like any others we have experienced in recent times, we know that we will get through this with each other’s help! The Children’s Librarians continue missing their patrons while they are working from home to come up with some fun and educational activities to keep you busy. There are virtual museum and zoo tours, online games, eBooks, and places to investigate from your home. Check out an eBook or digital audiobook on Overdrive, or download the free Libby app.
Additional digital content for children is being added everyday. Browse our online databases specifically for children. You can access TumbleBooks, Sesame Street eBooks, Novelist K-8, Tutor.com, TumbleMath, and CreativeBug, to name just a few of our online resources. Let your imagination soar and be entertained at the same time. Explore virtually and learn as you go! (more…)
As adults, we know the importance of washing our hands to stay healthy and safe in this world. Children only learn what we teach them. In the current world, we need to make our children aware of the importance of staying healthy, but we need to do it without scaring them. Now is also great time to catch up on reading and share stories with your children.
