Wireless printing is finally here! Library patrons can print from their laptop computers or smartphones with the SmartALEC mobile-printing system from Comprise Technologies, the people who provide the SAM time-and-print management system used on the Library’s public computers.
To print from your wireless device, go to the Library website and click on the Wireless Printing link. Create an account with your Garden City Public Library card (or a temporary account if you do not have a GCPL card) and upload your print jobs to the SmartALEC site. You can then release them at the Print Release Station in the Library’s Computer Lab.
Print-outs cost 10¢ per page. Add money to your account at the Circulation Desk inside the front doors of the Library.
Detailed, printed instructions are available in the Library. They can also be downloaded from the website:
Mobile apps are available for smartphone users (Android or iOS).
So if you want to print from your laptop or smartphone, be a SmartALEC sort of user and skip over the wires.
