Programs!*  During the school year, the majority of Young Adult programs are held on Saturday afternoons. Craft programs and workshops are particularly popular. Other programs held during the week are the "Babysitting Workshop" and the "College Financial Aid Workshop." Dates and times for these programs are announced in the Garden City News, the Garden City Life, the Library's Newsletter, Calendar of Events, and fliers found on the YA Librarian's Desk.

Every summer, the Young Adult Department, in cooperation with the Garden City Recreation Department, conducts "Teens and Tots Storytime" on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons at the Garden City Pool. Storytimes are held in the picnic area at 2:00 p.m., beginning July 1 and ending August 6. Young adults (entering grades 6-12 in September) read, sing, and do finger plays and a simple craft with groups of children between the ages of 2 and 8. Tots look forward to that quiet time when Teens do storytime with them. Children canʼt wait until they are old enough to read to the Tots. To insure the quality of the storytimes and the comfort of the storytellers, volunteers are required to attend two training sessions prior to the first summer they participate. Training sessions took place in April and May.
