Volunteers Needed for Teens & Tots Storytime

E-mail Print

Everyone’s looking forward to summer and returning to the Garden City Pool. The Young Adult Department, in cooperation with the Recreation Department of the Village of Garden City, conducts a storytime at the pool every Tuesday and Wednesday in July and the first week of August.

To be a volunteer in this program, you must attend a training session at the Library. Required training will be available for any young adult in 5th grade and up who wishes to participate in the storytime program for the first time this summer. You will learn the skills of book selection, read-aloud techniques, how to engage a young audience, and how to prepare and teach crafts safely.

The 2015 "Training Session" will be held on Wednesday, April 8, from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Other dates can be arranged by contacting YA Librarian Marge Kelly at 516-742-8405, ext. 242. Registration begins Monday, March 23.

This program is a community service and participants earn credit.
