Registration is underway on Eventkeeper for the ever-popular "Babysitting Workshop." The "First Aid Session" will be held on Wednesday, April 22 from 3:45 PM to 5:45 PM. The "Safety Session" will be held on Wednesday, April 29 from 3:45 PM to 5:15 PM. When you register for the first session, you are automatically enrolled in the second session. Confirmation will only show one date. Certificates of completion will be awarded to those attending both sessions.
Participants will learn the responsibilities of babysitting in this two-part workshop. The "Safety Session," conducted by Steve Espey of Garden City Recreation and Detective Richard Pedone, focuses on safety issues at the parks, the pool, and in the home. The "First Aid Session," conducted by JoAnnTanck, RN and Georgette Basso, RN, focuses on the care and health of young children. Participants are asked to bring a doll so they may practice the proper ways to hold a baby while feeding or diapering. Nutrition, illnesses, and accidents will be among the topics addressed.
The "Babysitting Workshop" is limited to 30 young adults. This program has been funded by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library.
