Babysitting Workshop

The always popular "Babysitting Workshop" will be offered again this fall. The "Safety Session," with Steve Espey of Garden City Recreation and Detective Richard Pedone of the GC Police Department Youth Bureau, will be held on Wednesday, October 29 from 3:45 PM to 5:15 PM. Mr. Espey and Officer Pedone will instruct future and current babysitters on how to prevent problems and deal with the unpreventable in Village parks and the pool as well as in the home.

animated graphic of formula dripping from baby bottleeOn Wednesday, November 5 from 3:45 PM to 5:45 PM, Nurses JoAnnTanck and Georgettte Basso will teach babysitters about the care, health, nutrition, illnesses, and accidents of young children and infants in the "Child Care/First Aid Session." Young adults will learn how to handle emergencies when babysitting. Bring a baby-size doll or stuffed animal to practice diapering, burping and first aid.

Certificates of Completion will be awarded to those attending both sessions. Registration starts on October 15 and is ongoing on Eventkeeper. This program is limited to 30 young adults.

This program has been funded by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library.
